How much salary is tax-free in Pakistan?
A salaried person pays no income tax on taxable income up to Rs 600,000 a year, which is Rs 50,000 a month, in Tax Year 2027.
How is monthly salary tax calculated?
Multiply your monthly taxable salary by 12, work out the tax on that annual amount using the slab it falls in, then divide the annual tax by 12. For example, Rs 150,000 a month is Rs 1,800,000 a year: Rs 6,000 + 11% of Rs 600,000 = Rs 72,000 a year, or Rs 6,000 a month.
Is there still a surcharge on high salaries?
Not for salaried individuals in tax year 2027. In tax year 2026 a 9% surcharge applied to the income tax of salaried people earning more than Rs 10 million a year. The Finance Act 2026 withdrew it for salaried individuals; the 10% surcharge on other individuals and associations of persons above Rs 10 million continues.
What changed from tax year 2026?
The first three slabs (up to Rs 2,200,000) are the same. Above that the rates fell: 23% became 20%, 30% became 25%, and two new slabs (29% and 32%) were added before the top 35% rate, which now starts at Rs 7,000,000 instead of Rs 4,100,000. Choose tax year 2026 in the calculator to compare.
Why is my payslip deduction different from this calculator?
Your employer may treat some allowances as exempt, adjust for tax already deducted or for a salary change mid-year, or apply tax credits. Your final liability is settled when you file your return on IRIS, so treat this as an estimate.
Does this calculator store my salary?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to Softhat or anyone else.
