How it works
Three steps
- 01
Enter your number
Write it the way you normally do, such as 03001234567. We convert it to the international format WhatsApp needs.
- 02
Add a message
Optional. It appears in the customer's chat box, ready to send, so you know where the enquiry came from.
- 03
Copy, test and share
Copy the link, test it on your phone, and download the QR code for flyers, menus and shop counters.

The official format
How a WhatsApp link is built
- WhatsApp's own Click to Chat format is https://wa.me/ followed by the full number in international format.
- Leave out the plus sign, the leading 0, brackets, spaces and dashes: 0300-1234567 becomes 923001234567.
- A pre-filled message goes after ?text= and must be URL-encoded, so spaces become %20 and a new line becomes %0A. This tool does that for you, including Urdu and emoji.
- With only ?text= and no number, WhatsApp opens the message and lets the person choose who to send it to.
Tips
Get more chats from your link
- Start the message with where the link is placed, e.g. “Hi, I saw your Instagram post about…”, so you can tell which channel brings enquiries.
- Use a WhatsApp Business number and set a greeting and away message, so people who tap the link get an instant reply.
- Add the link to your Google Business Profile, Facebook page button and Instagram bio, not just your website.
- Test the link on a phone that isn't logged in to your own number.
FAQ
Questions about WhatsApp links
What is a wa.me link?
It is WhatsApp's official Click to Chat link. Anyone who taps https://wa.me/ followed by your number opens a chat with you, without saving your number first. It works on phones and on WhatsApp Web or Desktop.
How do I write a Pakistani number in a WhatsApp link?
Use 92 followed by the number without its first 0, and no plus sign, spaces or dashes. So 0300 1234567 becomes 923001234567, and the link is https://wa.me/923001234567. This tool converts it for you.
Can I make a link for a number outside Pakistan?
Yes. Type the number with its country code, with or without + or 00, for example +971 50 123 4567 for the UAE or +44 7700 900123 for the UK.
Can I add a pre-filled message, including in Urdu?
Yes. Type it in the message box. The tool URL-encodes it so spaces, line breaks, Urdu text and emoji arrive exactly as you wrote them. The customer can still edit it before sending.
Does the link work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. It works with any number registered on WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, including numbers on the WhatsApp Business Platform (API).
Is it free, and does the link expire?
It is free, and the link does not expire. It is WhatsApp's own link format, so it does not pass through Softhat. Your number and message stay in your browser.
The link opens but says the number isn't on WhatsApp. Why?
Check that the number is registered on WhatsApp and that the country code is right. A common mistake is keeping the 0 after the country code, such as 920300…, which WhatsApp cannot find.
