QR codes that bring customers
A Google review QR code on your counter or receipt makes it easy for happy customers to leave a review. Get the link from your Business Profile as Google explains here, and read our Google Business Profile optimization guide to make the most of those reviews.
A WhatsApp QR code opens a chat with your business in one scan. To share the same chat as a link in your bio or ads, use our WhatsApp link generator.
Tips
Make sure it scans
- Always test-scan the code with two phones, one Android and one iPhone if you can, before printing.
- Keep dark code on a light background with strong contrast. Light-on-dark codes fail on many cameras.
- Leave the quiet zone (margin) at 4 for print. Cropping it off is the most common reason a printed code won't scan.
- For print, use SVG or a PNG of at least 1024 px, and print the code at least 2 × 2 cm.
- Put a short line next to the code, such as “Scan to leave a review” or “Scan to WhatsApp us”, so people know what it does.
FAQ
Questions about QR codes
Is this QR code generator free? Do the codes expire?
It is free with no sign-up. The codes are static: the website, number or text is stored inside the code itself, so there is no subscription and the code keeps working for as long as the link or number behind it works.
Is my information sent anywhere?
No. The QR code is made in your browser on your own device. What you type, including Wi-Fi passwords, is not sent to Softhat or any other server.
How do I make a QR code for Google reviews?
On a computer, open your Business Profile on Google, choose Read reviews, then Get more reviews, and copy the link. Paste it in the Google review tab here to get a QR code you can style and print. Google notes that its own review QR codes can only be created in a computer browser for now.
Will the Wi-Fi QR code work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The camera app on current iPhones and most Android phones reads Wi-Fi QR codes and offers to join the network. On some older Android phones, use Google Lens or the QR scanner in Wi-Fi settings.
Which error correction level should I choose?
Medium suits most uses. Choose High if the code will be printed on rough surfaces, may get scratched, or will have a sticker or logo placed over part of it. Higher levels make the code denser, so print it a little larger.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
PNG works everywhere: WhatsApp, social media, websites and documents. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, which printers and designers prefer for flyers, banners and shop signs.
Can I change where the QR code points after printing it?
Not with a static code: the destination is part of the code. If you may change it later, point the code to a page on your own website and change that page instead.
Turn every scan into a WhatsApp conversation
Your QR code brings customers to WhatsApp. A WhatsApp bot from Softhat answers them instantly, takes orders and books appointments, day and night.
